Hi,

I am travelling to the Seychelles and I have a choice of Airseychelles and Qatar. Although we prefer to fly with Qatar can anyone please tell me if we will have alcohol removed from our suit cases or even hand luggage whilst in transit? Also how much can you take if allowed?

thank you

If you have your alcohol packed in your suitcase and checked-in, the alcohol will not be removed. There is however, lots of uncertainty and differing opinions and/or experiences whether or not alcohol carried as duty free items will be seized at Doha Airport whilst on transit.

Your duty free allowance is determined by your final destination - i.e. where you're travelling to. Say if you're disembarking at Seychelles, you will be permitted to bring in 2 litres of spirits and 2 litres of wine.

Hope this info helps ...

We travelled to Doha last year from Mnachester with Qatar.I had 2 bottles of spirits in my hand luggage .It was taken from my hand luggage ,and I was given a ticket to collect it on my departure .But after 1 hour waiting in duty free it appeared.from nowhere I shall be in Doha next week but minus any alcohol.

Ok I'll say this once , I'f you have a transit flight through Doha do not buy duty free alcohol or perfume from your destination because they will confiscate it ! I had a bad personal experience with this in doha. I had bought a limited edition johnny walker blue label in belgium duty free where I was assured by by staff at brussles airport that if it was kept in a duty sealed bag it would be good as long as the bag was not opened. I had a 30 min transfer in Doha and went through several security checks and nothing was said until the one before I got on the plane. At the last stop I had quite a big argument with staff about them simply discarding my precious whiskey! They said that because I had purchased this at another airport it didn't matter that my transit was within the airport they took 300 dollar Johnny walker blue label , if I had bought the same bottle at Doha I was allowed to take it on board -.- don't risk it ended up buying a bigger bottle when I got back to Melbourne
