I visited Benualim in Nov 2003 and loved it and stayed at Carina Beach Resort, not great but had a pool and was cheap although management left a lot to be desired!!!!

Can anyone recommend any decent places to stay at all?

I visited benaulim in february just a month ago stayed at castello's tourist nest.The place is ok with double rooms with attached bathrooms and balconies facing the forested coconut gardens for rs 200 a night.If you stay a while like i did you will get it for rs 150 a night.Most people like me come back year after year to the peaceful surroundings and nature.The owner mr savio castello can arrange to book your train tickets for you with no extra cost plus, picks you up on arrival either at the train station or goa dabolim airport.
