Has anyone been there? Any opinions, reviews?

It's funky. If you like funky it might work for you. It didn't work for me.

S&J Thanks, I've already seen all those reviews. Because of the mix, I didn't find them very helpful, although the vocabulary of the first one was interesting. I am looking for a more conversational opinion here from someone who has been there. Guess not many have, so that says something already. Thanks anyway.

I don't know what "funky" means in your context.

I think that the mix of reviews is on the whole very accurate, helpful, and gives a very clear picture of what to expect. Dining room is to avoided at all costs, and the hotel service in general leaves a lot to be desired (low morale problems, employees treated like s***).

I've been three times, stayed in a hot tub room with a view of the hillside. Here's what I've learned:

go midweek, look for web specials, NEVER eat in the dining room, bring your own food (there's a frig) or eat in Stevenson or at Skamania Lodge.

I've been there and to Carson, but just for day trips for a soak in the mineral baths. Bonneville service stinks, particularly at the spa and dining room. But they have a beautiful olympic sized warm pool (cedar ceiling). Their soaking facility is gorgeous, except it's not very private (the baths are a little to open to the public for my taste). Prices are nearly the same for a soak and wrap as at Carson. I myself prefer Carson for its funky-ness, but a friend I took there thought it a bit too "Eugene" for her taste. Both places have very good massage therapists, so I'd call them even on that score.

Funky from me meant very old school. Bed, bath, phone. Minimal amenities. Could be fun if that works for you!
