for us it was 80 pesos apiece..... there had at one time going to be four of us and the total was to be 180 pesos...therefore 45 pesos each..... but because there was only two we paid a lower total fare but higher individually. He certainly hit all the architechtural highlights .....cerveca was whenever you wanted.....lunch....who better to ask for a place to go than him.... it was great - we were having such a good time that we asked him to join us. He picked us up at the hotel at 8:30am...sharp...punctuality was not always a high priority to some of the different tours; but this guy was just the consumate professional..... we were back by 4:00pm or so..... the thing was ...we could have been longer or shorter..... we ran the tour so to speak. If you do go with him..... a big hit for him would be if you brought down a couple of your newspapers....

TravelGrrrl - Just got back from Varadero on 6th of January. The Viazul bus station is located on 36th Street in Varadero. Cost is $10 Convertible Pesos on way.

We stayed at the Villa Cuba. Our hotel had a separate desk from the Airline Travel Reps for tours, which is where we booked the Van to Havana. We found our Air Transat tour rep to be completely useless, so we booked all our tours thru the other tour company.

We just mentioned to other people that we met at our resort that we wanted to rent the van, and so many people wanted to come with us, so you won't have any proplem finding other to join you. We got to tell the driver what time in the morning to come get us, so we were on our schedule. (It is still better to start early as you will loose day light later and not see as much) Would definetley recommend this to any age group.

jnjc..... Great option and exactly what we're looking for. Don't like to be 'pushed along' on a tour....take a LOT of photos, so tend to look for interesting architecture and people - not always allowed enough time/selection for this on a packaged tour.

Question or so for you - "cost us 80 pesos" (apiece or total?). Was Manuel open to you requesting areas you wanted to go to? Did he allow for a break so you could grab lunch and/or cerveza? How long were you away from the hotel?
