My partner and i are from Australia and are planning a trip to croatia in July. We are staying with some of his family near Rijeka and are planing to go down the coast and stay a few nights in Dubrovnik.



Can anyone please recommend whether it would be better to catch a ferry from Rijeka to Dubrovnik and then hire a car to drive back for something different... or should we just drive both ways??



Also will we need a car to get around when we are in Dubrovnik?(We are actually staying in Mlini)

I would suggest taking the ferry to get to Dubrovnik and then drive back up the coast if you are interested in driving. I wouldn't drive down and back if I were you. But having a car in Dubrovnik will not be a good idea. It is next to impossible to find parking in the places that you will want to be at, so see if you can find public transport to get from Mlini to Dubrovnik. So maybe rent the car once you are leaving Dubrovnik to head up the coast? Or it would be possible to use public transport back up the coast, whatever is best for you!
