Hi, I'm staying at Breezes Varadero the week starting Dec4/04 and going solo..would like to spend a night in havana while I am there..any suggestions on a hotel ? whats the night life like for a single guy ?

Havana is great...however everything is in pretty rough shape, so don't expect much for a fancy hotel. The small little bars are great and they are all over the place. The staff is nice, but the one thing you will notice is a lack of cubans in the clubs. They watch from outside, its kind of weird. They do this because they are too poor. I invited one lady in for a drink, which was great, she tought me how to cha cha cha:) Didn't see any big clubs, but I had a fantastic time in the small one's. The best thing to do is wing it....ask around while you're there. Cubans are very friendly!

I lived in Havana for 2 months. I would stay at a Casa Priva 2 minutes to the Hotels and Park Central. Address: Hostel El Parador Numantino Consulado 223 E/Animas Y Trocadero, Central Habana. Tel (537) 862-7629. A great place to people watch is the terrace at the Inglaterra Hotel or the Pastry shop beside it.

For fun at night I would go to Havana Cafe or the Cafe De La Musica (Galiano & Neptono).

Cafe de Oriente (Obispo & San Ignacio).

China Town is a must at night. Enjoy
