Hi We're staying in the Studio rooms of the Himalaia - Do they have DVD players in the rooms at all? My wife wont be skiing and might bring some DVD's if they do.

Thanks!

Thanks, We're flying out Sunday - not long now! I'll pass all this great info onto her, shes taking about a dozen books so somewhere to relax and read is exactly what she needs! And she'll probably use the spa facilities too.

Thanks again..

Hi, I have been to Soldeu many times, but have not stayed in the Himalaia. To find an answer to your question, I suggest you read the reviews on Trip Advisor, and send a private message to someone who has stayed in a studio room. That's what I do when I want to find out something about a specific hotel. We stayed in the Bruxelles this feb, and I got a lot of extra info from PM's to different review posters.

This is the link to the Himalaia reviews.

If your wife is not skiing, I think you can buy a lift pass for the gondola only, so she can go up to the ski area and meet you for lunch, or sit at one of the two restaurants there and read/ relax if the weather is sunny. Alternatively, the Sport Village hotel is next to the gondola station, and has a very nice lounge with piste views, and comfortable armchairs. The Sport Hermitage nearby is a 5 star hotel, with a Wellness Centre and Spa open to the public. Nice pool and outdoor hot tub.

The Piolets hotel opposite the Himalaia also has a pool, outdoor jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and is cheaper than the Heritage but not as grand.

What about taking a portable DVD player with you?!

There is an Irish Bar called the Villager right next to the gondola station, and one called the Iceberg next to the Piolets hotel. The Iceberg has a nice patio area where you can watch people skiing back to resort. Very popular apres ski, as has Happy Hour 4-6pm.

We always like to pop into the Sport Village for a pot of tea after skiing as well.

If you want to have lunch in resort, the Bruxelles ( next to the Piolets) is very well recommended.

There is another restaurant for lunch near the base of the gondola station called the Sol- i -Neu. You can ski almost to here, and can wear ski boots inside, so a good place to meet if your wife is not going up in the gondola. Not as busy as the restaurants at the top either. Waiter service, pizza, pasta and other choices.
