We are planning a trip to the Vancouver, WA/Portland, OR area and up to Seattle. We have seen the usual Space Needle, Pikes Place Market and Waterfront/Aquarium in Seattle. We are looking for great places to take children and that are handicap friendly. How far is Astoria from Vancouver? What about Seaside? Any suggestions are appreciated.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Are you looking for activities in Portland/Vancouver, Astoria, Seaside, Seattle, or where?

Astoria is about 90 miles from Vancouver taking I-5 to Kelso/Longview and crossing the bridge there. Seaside is about the same distance, except you'd go into Portland and head west on hwy 26. Between Astoria and Seaside, I think your children would prefer Seaside, where there are many attractions geared towards kids, and most are handicap friendly.

How old are your children? They might enjoy Fort Clatsop and the Martime Museum in Astoria. Seaside is a great place full of fun and beach shops. Cannon Beach is also a nice place to visit. Have a picnic at Ecola State Park and don't forget your camera here. :)

Is this your first time to the Oregon Coast, anthonga? Where are you staying in the area? If you would like some suggestions on great places to dine, feel free to ask. I'm in Seaside right now for a bit. :)

Ecola State Park truly is spectacular, but depending on the nature of the handicap, may not be as easily accessible. There are some paved trails to picnic sites and viewpoints, but beach access is generally limited to those who are ambulatory.
