Post subject: Sheraton or Hotel Gran Paraguay?
PostPosted: Thu May 04, 2006 10:00 am
Hello - we will be traveling through Asuncion in October 2009. We are debating staying at either the Sheraton or the Hotel Gran Paraguay. We read the reviews on trip advisor and are intrigued about staying at the Hotel Gran Paraguay due to its history, but have no idea if it is in a dodgy part of town or not? Any feedback regarding safety in and around that hotel? Thanks!

Hi Fafo!..

The first question should be.. Were are you from?.. Paraguay doesnt require visa from countries all over the world, so contact a local consulate office or embassy and chek it out.

Can somebody tell me if there are rural properties such as farms or estancias where families can stay and relax for a few days and be able to observe the gauchos working with their horses and cattles.

Post subject: Trip into Paraguay worth the trouble?
PostPosted: Fri Mar 09, 2007 8:59 am
Hi,

I'll be staying 2 nights in Puerto Iguazu, Argentina in January. I plan to go to the Argentine & Brazilian sides of the falls for sure (I already have a Brazilian visa.) However, is a side trip to Paraguay worth the trouble? Do I need a visa? Is there anything interesting to see or is it just an excuse to get another passport stamp?

Thanks for your advice!

Post subject: Not sure if I should go or not...
PostPosted: Sun Sep 23, 2007 3:35 am
Hello,

my girlfriend emigrated to Paraguay many years ago and she is my best friend since 23 years. I have traveled all over the world but I have never been to Paraguay.

I have mixed feelings with visiting her, on the one hand I'd love to see her for 10 days or so (lives close to Asuncion) but on the other hand I read, that people there are not friendly to Americans, the crime rate ...
