I agree it was a ton of fun. We didn't go into "the war zone" but went off of 26th at the Estuary, so could see the fireworks all up and down the beach, even the ones people were doing in Gearhart. Tons of illegals, but we didn't see any cops over where we were.
My cousin and pals were at Del-Ray and saw lots of people getting ticketed for illegal fireworks.
Course one of my parents neighboors set off about $60,000 worth every year so it is pretty spectacular.
My parents just filled me in that they have a room at the Trendwest there on the Prom for next year, so we plan to be in the thick of it next year.
During the day, we did our civic duty and brought our plastic sacks to grab candy at the parade! And headed over to the museum to get faces painted, play some games, and a cake walk, check out the silent auction, and eat some blue cotton candy. Such fun. My boys loved it, and then we headed to the grandparents for naps before dinner.
Wanted to also post about the Lil'Bayou. My sister and her fiancee and I went out about dinner time, right before they closed, and had a few drinks. They were really great, and I met the owner, who I forgot his name now, he was from NYC. Anyway it is a great little place, and I need to go back, and try the food! It is amazing how much they could do with "The Coffee Mug" it used to be a breakfast hangout for locals, many years ago. So it is fun to see things change but also be successfull. The Lil'Bayou is having alot of live music.
I had posted before that it was owned by my parents neighboors but I had been mistaken and it had been a different cajun place, and on Broadway. They also own a couple other restaurants.
