I will be in Skopje for business in Skopje on week of Feb. 10. I am planing to extend my stay through weekend . Is there an ski area close to Skopje for day trip or overnight trip. If so how do I get there and can I rent skis there?

Ofcourse there is a ski area around here. It is called Popova Shapka and it is about 1 hr away from the center of the city.



A two way ticket to/from Popova Shapka costs about 3.5 EUR and a travel agency called Savana organizes daily trips to there. You can call the agency at 3115-826 for more details. They are located very close to the square Macedonia (the central square of Skopje)

Thank you for responding to my question. I had read about the Popova Shapka but I did not know how close it is to Skpoje. I assume there are hotels there that I can stay for two days weekend. Do I need to bring my skis and boots or The offer rentals there?

The website is www.savana.com.mk but even though the website is not very informative it is an agency with very good reputation.



If you want to contact them you should call them because i don't think they use email very often.



I have never been to Popova Shapka so therefore I don't know anything about ski rental possibilities :(. You should ask the agency about that. But if I were you I would just bring my own skis because even if you can rent some the rentals will be probably very worn out.



I know there is some hotels on Popova Shapka and you can probably book one through the agency also. Popova Shapka is really close by and it shouldn't be a problem to commute to there every day. It takes about an hour to get there.
