We are landing in Varadero, but staying in Havana the first week. Unfortunately our plane lands after the morning tourist bus leaves Varadero for Havana (8:00am)and the next one isn't until late afternoon (4:30pm). Anyone know of an easy and relatively cheap way to get to Havana from Varadero?

There are several buses that leave Varadero daily, it is not a 'tourist bus'. Cost is $11 one way. The bus station is on 36 Street in Varadero. The schedule is on the net just search under Viazul Bus. I will be traveling to Havana via this mode of transportation on Jan. 2.

Trooper- The Viazul bus was the one whose schedule doesn't coincide with our arrival. Was wondering what the alternative would be.

Sorry, can't be of anymore help. The only other way I can think of if hiring a taxi (expensive) or renting a car (scary). Have you checked with your travel agent for alternatives? Maybe stay the nite in Varadero and catch the 8:00 a.m. bus the next day.
