I'm going to stay at friends house in Moscow, where and how to register my visa?

By the way, I'm Asian, will there be extra trouble over the 'visa' or things to concern about?

Thanks for your reply. I have 2 options as following:

1) Friend in Russia get me the invitation letter, when should I apply for the invitation? Is there any validity of the invitation letter / visa support? I've checked with consular in Singapore, I only able to summit for visa application 2 weeks before my trip.

2) Apply the invitation letter / visa support thru www.waytorussia.net/Travel/VisaSupport.html

Anyone able to advice which way is better?

Thanks

Hi,

At last you`ve got enough time to apply for visa. If you are going to stay in your friend`s home you will not free them from hassle and paper formalities (believe me). At least they have to register your stay in the local authorities - otherwise you are illegal. Right now in Moscow very harsh new immigration regulations are in power. So ALL foreigners must be registrated unless they stay in hotels and hotel stuff provide this automatically.

-----------

Second point - visa applicatiom. All the details you may obtain in Russian Embassy, Singapore (consular section). As far as I know the necessary things are-

- return air tickets

-hotel booking with confirmation letter. In your case original (not photocopy, e-mail etc) letter of invitation from your friends which they have to compose accordingly.

- properly filled in application forms which you may get at the Embassy

- visa fee payment (how much I have know idea, it depends on your nationality, for indonesians for example its 75USD for single tourist visa).

-I heard nothing about on-line visa application especially with Russian Embasy. Please be careful of frauds.

Thanks for the reply, but my concern is about getting the invitation letter or so called the visa support. I definately going to apply my visa thru Russian embassy in Singapore, but before that, I must get my visa support from either one option as mentioned earlier.. :)

My strongest advice - APPLY for VISA only in the Russian Embassy in Singapore. They are the onl;y official and legal way to obtain visa to Russia.

Ask your friend in Moscow, of course. Those who offer visa support through internet use fake names and credentials / or they use real names and addresses from the people unknown to you and without their permittion. So in the case of any question from immigration you will be in trouble.
